Court on Trial grows out of a decade of collaborative research among the authors together with a transatlantic team of dozens of dedicated empirical researchers. This book brings together insights from five new, unique datasets based on records from over one million Supreme Court cases, the text of thousands of Supreme Court judgments, biographical information on hundreds of Supreme Court justices and high court judges, and data on senior advocates at the Supreme Court. It also incorporates innovative work by many other exceptional empirical scholars. It supplements the empirical data with insights gained from our own extensive interviews with Supreme Court justices, lawyers and academics.
